Elevate News!

Looking for summer programs and curriculum? Consider using an Elevate series for VBS at your church! Some ministry leaders have let us know that they've adapted the eight-week format to fit their week-long Vacation Bible School. They use lesson one on the Sunday before the program starts, a new lesson each day of the week and then close on the next Sunday with the last lesson of the series. Add a few creative crafts and snacks and you're ready for the fun to begin!

We've recently launched a new Elevatekids.com website with interactive information on current and upcoming curriculum. Check out media previews, get the latest news from the development team and find answers to common questions.

Also, we are excited to announce the soon-to-be-released Elevate Junior curriculum. Elevate Jr. is a brand new preschool curriculum from Fellowship Church designed for children ages 3 – 5 years old. Elevate Jr. shares many of the characteristics of Elevate, including video training for all classroom activities. You will have the option of teaching the curriculum in an interactive classroom format or in a large group/small group format. The elements of each lesson are:

Opening Activity
Introduction Video
Main Point Activity
Skit and Bible Story Video
Bible Story Activity
Application Video
Craft Activity
Closing Activity

Elevate Jr. will release with Spy Chase, the next series from Elevate; and we will produce it with every Elevate series from this point forward. As with Elevate, you will be able to use the curriculum with a TV, DVD Player and remote control. Pricing for Elevate Jr. will be the same as Elevate, at $159 for an eight-week series (about $20 a weekend). To stay connected with the latest about Elevate Jr., check out ElevateKids.com or, to order, visit CreativePastors.com.

10 Commandments of Purity

We just finished an incredible time at the Creative Marriage Retreat at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas. Over 170 ministry couples joined us for two days to reconnect with each other and to connect with other pastors and their spouses from around the country. Ed and Lisa started off the retreat by sharing the story of how they met along with some of the things they have done to maintain a vibrant 25 year marriage. One of the things they shared was Ed's 10 Commandments of Purity, a personal commitment he made years ago when he started out in ministry. Ed and Lisa wanted to make that available to everyone as a reminder that God gave us marriage, first and foremost, for our holiness.

10 Commandments of Purity

  1. I shall have no other human relationship before Lisa
  2. Remember your date night and keep it holy.
  3. Honor Lisa on anniversaries and special days so that you may live long in the land the Lord has given you.
  4. I shall not take the covenant of marriage in vain.
  5. I shall not ride in a car or eat in a restaurant alone with a member of the opposite sex.
  6. I shall not travel alone.
  7. I shall not counsel a woman behind closed doors.
  8. I shall not share the details of my marriage with others.
  9. I shall not watch, read or expose myself to sexually explicit shows, books, websites, etc.
  10. I shall remember the implications of committing adultery.

Podcast > Wake Up > A 'Hole Mutha Level

It's an Old Testament story about parenting, prayer and the posture of hearts. And as he unpacks the story in this message, Ed Young contrasts two very different parenting styles—one wide awake; one fast asleep. And he shows us that to get the most out of parenting we must answer the question: are we awake or asleep? Because when we are awake to hearing the voice and direction of God, we'll discover parenting and life on a 'hole mutha level.

Wake Up

Sleep is an interesting state. When we're asleep, we don't even know it. It's only when we wake up that we realize we had been asleep in the first place. It's true physically; it's also true spiritually.

In this series, Ed Young looks at several characters throughout the Bible who found themselves asleep to what God had in store for them. And as we get an inside track into their lives, we discover that in our own lives, God doesn't want us to be lulled to sleep spiritually. Because life takes on so much more meaning, direction and purpose when we finally wake up!

Podcast > Wake Up > Sleeping in Church

Most people are familiar with the major league players in the Bible, the heavy hitters. Jesus. Moses. Paul. Adam and Eve. But what about the characters we aren’t so familiar with? Is there anything we can learn from the minor league players?

In this message, Ed Young takes a look at one of these lesser known characters, Eutychus. And as we learn about his story in Acts 20, we see that God has a wake up call designed to help us all get the most out of life.

Podcast > Thread > Sew What?

“If it feels good, do it.” “I don’t feel like it.” “I’ve got a feeling…” Sayings like that permeate our feelings-focused culture. But in this message, Ed Young reminds us that feelings are a lot like fashion trends—they come and go. That’s why, if we want to be true followers of Christ, we cannot follow our feelings. Our freaky, fickle feelings must be sewn to God’s foundational wardrobe of truth.

Thread

We are crazy about clothes—we have a passion for fashion. That fashion frenzy is nothing new. And in this series called Thread we’re going to explore where it all started. More importantly, though, we’re going to find out that this life will never make sense until we discover the common thread that holds it all together and reconnect the disconnected fabric of our lives.

Podcast > Thread > Mirror Image

We live in a world of worship. God has woven the desire for worship into the very fabric of our lives. But many of us worship the wrong things—from clothing to careers to sports to sex. God, though, wants our worship to be a clear reflection of our intense passion for Him. In this third installment of the series, Ed Young teaches that, as we worship God in everything we do, we become a mirror image of Him.

So often when we get married we’re looking for and hoping for the ‘happily ever after’. But then reality hits. Laundry starts to pile up. Bills have to be paid. And we discover that marriage takes some serious work.

That’s when the world says, “If you aren’t happy, just leave.” But to fully discover all that God has in store for us, we have to realize that marriage is about so much more than just our happiness.

In this message, Ed Young teaches us that while marriage may not be the easiest thing, it can be the greatest thing if we do what it takes to just stay married.

In this series, Ed Young takes a unique approach to marriage. And as we look to God's plan, we discover that marriage may never have been intended so much for our happiness as much as it was for our holiness.

Podcast > Wholly Holy > Just Don't Get Married

A great marriage isn't something that just happens. Sadly though, society tells us that marriage is just like any other relationship—a party that we can show up to and leave whenever we want. And others think that getting married will solve all our relational, emotional and spiritual issues. None of these views is accurate or equal to what God had in mind when he designed the marriage relationship.

In this message, Ed Young reveals the truth about the work it takes to have a successful marriage. And he tells us boldly that if we aren't willing to do the work in order to reap the rewards, then just don't get married.

Wholly Holy

In today's world, we look to our relationships for companionship, friendship and meaning. One of the biggest needs we look for relationships to solve in our lives is the need to feel whole, complete. But is that really what God had in mind when he designed families, friendships and specifically marriages?

In this series, Ed Young takes a unique approach to marriage and relationships. And as we look to God's plan, we discover that they may never have been intended to make us whole. They were designed instead to make us holy.
